Psychological Therapy
I have extensive training and experience in several kinds of talking therapy, which means we have different options to choose from in deciding what will be most helpful to you. We will decide how frequently to meet, on a Tuesday for online work or a Wednesday for face to face sessions, and therapy can be short, medium or long term. I can also provide advocacy as and when needed (for example with housing, learning, healthcare), including letters, reports, and/or other interventions/actions which are in support of your psychological health and wellbeing.

As well as your preference for a particular therapy, we can also explore what the research (evidence base) suggests is effective for the issues you wish to address, how structured you want therapy to be, and what directions and/or goals you want to pursue. As a psychologist, I will work with you to carry out an assessment of your concerns, and together we will develop a psychological understanding of this (called a formulation) which will guide our therapy plan. We can add to and/or review this at any time, and we would always talk about ending and work towards this at your pace.
I attend regular supervision and I am engaged in various kinds of professional development activities and scholarship to support the quality and effectiveness of my practice.

The psychological therapies I offer include the following specific interventions or an individualised combination of more than one:
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
Dialectical behaviour therapy, which is ‘DBT-informed CBT’ (DBT skills training, individual therapy, telephone coaching) rather than ‘Standard DBT’ currently, as I am not part of a DBT Team
Mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT)
Person centred therapy (PCT)
Queer affirmative therapy
Schema Therapy (ST)
